Depolarizing Ourselves Online Workshop: Thursday, December 11, 2025, 11:30 am to 1 pm
This 90-minute workshop helps us reframe how we view the “other side” in the face of disagreements around politics. Successfully taming our inner polarizer starts with recognizing our tendency to make harmful assumptions about the motivations and intent of people with whom we disagree. The workshop addresses how we may inadvertently be complicit in, or possibly even encourage, polarization.
You will participate in small group discussions and learn:
How to be more aware of their own “inner polarizer”.
How to interact without demonizing, dismissing, or stereotyping a great number of our fellow citizens.

Tired of politics ruining family time? There’s a fix!
We just wrapped up an incredible Braver Angels workshop, Family and Politics, that taught real, applicable skills for navigating those tricky political talks with loved ones. It’s not about changing minds; it’s about changing the conversation.
The work is happening, and these skills are vital for a healthy society (and healthier family get togethers!). Email us at washtenaw-county-mi@braverangels.org if you, your faith-based organization, or other group is interested in holding a workshop.
We had an engaging discussion in Saline on immigration. We were encouraged by our common compassion for the people involved. We were also humbled by the challenge of designing a system that actually works.

Who truly speaks for the working class? Is there hope that populism—of the right or the left—might truly serve this group that so often feels overlooked? What does this multifaceted group want, anyway?
We held a coliseum debate in person and live-streamed on YouTube (recording available). Our four panelists debated the possibility of political realignment and made the case for and against our resolution: Resolved - The Republican Party is the party of the working class.
Local attendees had the opportunity to connect with our speakers, our National Debate Team, Michigan Network and Washtenaw Alliance leaders and members, and others who care about working class politics and bridging political divides.
After the panel Q&A, we enjoyed a light reception of drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
